A community club owned by its members

Wedgewood Swim Club began as a first meeting in October 1957 and a club the founding families organized and owned. Their members still own it. Below is the members' logbook, year by year, and after it the people who run the club today. The pools and programs those families keep going are on the services page, and joining is covered under membership.

    • October. The first recorded meeting to organize the Club.
  2. 1958

    • June. 66 families have joined.
    • July. Members build the bath house themselves. One beer can from the wall still remains.
    • August. The pool officially opens. The first fence is made of turkey wire.
    • September. The first annual meeting, held at Westtown Thornbury School. The balance sheet dated September 25 shows a deficit of $122.
